The 10th Linlithgow Classic Car Day on Sunday 25th August 2019 truly went off with a bang this year in glorious sunny weather – a great change from the 2018 event wash-out.

JCT Stand-2019

We were privileged to have the Jim Clark Trust present with their tent, two of Jim Clark’s Lotus Elans (yellow and red), memorabilia and an opportunity to chat with Jim Clark’s cousin Doug Niven (head of the JCT), and others who’d raced with the double world champion, marvellous guests. We also had present Andrew Swanson who’d raced with Jim and his race prepared but road going Lotus Cortina.

The overall event commenced with registration at the Park Bistro followed by 80-odd cars joining the 1st Jim Clark Memorial Road Run round the Forth valley to Fife and back across the bridges in marvellous clear warm weather, with the run being flagged off by Doug Niven. All participants were presented with a unique road run plaque sponsored by Dragonfly – the rally plate company http://www.dragonflyhouse.co.uk.

The show itself was as usual hugely popular with the local population and visitors alike, with the event after 10 years having become a well liked local and wider attraction. There were queues out of all the ice cream shops, and cafes, restaurants, bars, and other shops were doing a roaring trade.  Many of the cars entered had come from all over Scotland to join the show, with drivers and owners staying overnight in the area.

The cars completely filled the Cross and the Vennel down the High Street and drew huge numbers of people to come and enjoy the sights and sounds of classic and more modern vehicles; all accompanied by music provide by our PA maestro Steedsy.com.

The prizes for best cars in the show were won this year by a totally new group of winners.

1st Prize was local owner William Marshall in his Red Bentley (BVK769).

2nd Prize went to drive-in visitor Ben Wall from Oxford who was on holiday and entered specially in his primrose yellow drop-head Austin 20 (CB9374).

3rd Prize went to local club member Alistair McMurdo in his shiny spotless Mercedes 190b Ponton (UPM663).

The prizes were presented jointly by Provost Cllr Tom Kerr and prize sponsor Robert Callander of Robert Callander Opticians, to whom we’re very grateful.

So next year’s event will be on Sunday 30th August 2020. So get it in your diary as we’re looking forward to seeing you all again on the day!

Show Sponsors

Thanks goes to all of our sponsors again this year, without which the show wouldn’t happen, and who we hope you’ll all support, and in particular to Robert Callander Optician’s sponsor of the best car of the show prize..
