Once again the Linlithgow Classic Car Day went off with a bang on Sunday 2nd September 2012.

The guys with the banner at the Farmers Market – 28/07/12

The format was similar to previous years, with principal sponsors Visit West Lothian and with the kind support of Historic Scotland.

In total about 100 cars and motor bikes joined us on the day, with the event starting at the Park Bistro (http://theparkbistro.co.uk/how-to-find-us.html) near Philipstoun, for registration and tea/coffee and bacon rolls. The road run took the cars to South Queensferry for the older/slower cars for a pit stop at the Two Bridges Restaurant car park and for the faster cars round the two bridges over to Fife and back.  The show as usual was in the town centre around Linlithgow Cross, and in the Palace car park. Show commentary, entertainment and music was provided by Radio Grapevine and the show was formally opened by Tom Kerr, the Provost of West Lothian Council. This year the show also extended all the way down the Vennel/High Street with the arrival of our pals from the Dunedin chapter of the Harleys….a most welcome addition!

Once again the ‘best car of the show’ competition selected by the entrants was won again as last year by the Pre67 Fords, this year by Craig Faichney with his excellent Ford Anglia Estate LHT562E, 2nd prize to Alan Johnston in his Triumph TR4a, and 3rd prize going to JD McAllister for his Ford Zephyr Mk2 URD164.  Well done guys.

This year we also had Truly Scrumptious Designer Cakes (www.trulydesignercakes.co.uk) bake us a spectacular classic car cake in the shape of an old Bentley, which was donated to the folk at St Michael’s Day Care Centre, and was officially presented to Cllr Tom Conn on behalf of the Centre.
