The 8th Linlithgow Classic Car Day on Sunday 27th August 2017 went off successfully once again and once more in warm sunny weather. This year the area for the static show was slightly reduced to allow film production in Linlithgow Palace and St Michael’s kirk. So the show in the town centre with roughly the same number of cars as the previous year (about 175 or so) was a very snug fit.
Following registration in the morning at the Park Bistro (beside the Millennium Link canal east of Linlithgow (http://www.theparkbistro.co.uk/restaurant/how-to-find-us) for tea, coffee and bacon rolls about 70-odd cars joined for the road run round the area to Beecraigs, Torphichen and down through picturesque country roads to Boness and back to the town centre for the static car show at lunchtime.
Provost Tom Kerr did the honours in opening the event and following music and commentary provided by Steedsy.com, towards the end of the afternoon announced the winners of the Best Car of the Show award, together with Robert Callander the prizes sponsor.
The 1st prize for the best car of the show – selected by the driver entrants themselves – went to local owner Charlie Brown with his immaculate red and black 1929 Austin.

2nd prize went to Willy McRae’s green 1949 Triumph Saloon.

In 3rd place was Thomas Ritchie’s spectacular black 1926 Crossley Saloon, the oldest car in the show, and one of very few of this type left in existence. Tom’s Crossley also won 2nd prize in the 2015 show.

So once again we thank all the owners, drivers, passengers, and members of the public who took part in and visited the event and show on the day and made it such a success.

To quote Provost Tom Kerr – “next year’s event will be even bigger and better than this year.”
